NAIMEG FAMILY - DECAF
Our latest decaf espresso comes courtesy of our long time Caravan producing partners the Naimegs in Brazil. The family farm, Fazenda Ouro Verde, was established in 1965 by Gerson Naimeg, the son of a German settler to the area. The farm is one of four that the family owns close to the city of Patos de Minas, the management and day to day operations now being taken care of by Gersons 5 children.More info

Pulped Natural/Swiss Water Decaf
Covering 130 hectares Ouro Verde produces predominantly Yellow Icatu processing both naturals and pulp naturals in the typical Brazilian style of drying on concrete patios as well as on raised African style beds. This pulped natural lot was laid out to dry on raised beds for 10 days immediately after depulping. Continual turning of the parchment has ensured a stable and consistent coffee, ensuring that the final cup has a sweet, full bodied flavour.
We’ve found this espresso to be fantastic when paired with milk. Rich, sweet and full bodied with a hint of butterscotch and a deep cocoa character.
Typically we like to start with an 18g dose when dialling in our espresso. If you’re aiming for a 2:1 extraction, then a target weight of 36g is ideally pulled over 30 seconds. This decaf is particularly versatile and can stand up to brewing in a French Press for a longer filter style brew. A good starting point for the French Press is 60gm of coffee to a litre of water, steep for 4 minutes, then leave for a further 4 minutes before pouring. Happy brewing!!
