The Chemex is one of many brewers designed by chemists – this one by German born Peter J Schlumbohm. Although this may look like a new innovation, this has been around since 1941. It has been an icon of pop culture for as many years, with the likes of Paul Newman, Dorris Day, and the cast of ‘Friends’ all using it for their daily brew. Even James Bond in the novel ‘From Russia, with Love’ prefers his coffee brewed with a Chemex, neither shaken nor stirred.
